China Telecom is able to provide a variety of voice services such as international and domestic long-distance and local telephony, IP telephony and card telephony.
International and domestic long-distance telephone service: China Telecom's long-distance telephone service is categorized by domestic long-distance, international long-distance and long-distance between the main land and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The long-distance telephone service is not only reach the whole country but also to over 200 countries and regions in the world, and additionally, it is very convenient and fast for a customer to enjoy a high-quality service, and the voice of the call conversation is very clear.
Local telephone service: This is a voice service provided by China Telecom through the local wire telephone system and the wireless telephone system for customers. China Telecom is currently providing the local service in 21 provincial regions and will expand the service to the whole country.
Wireless local telephone service: This is a form of service that is realized by adopting a wireless access technology in the local fixed- line network, that enables a customer to make a call through a small portable telephone set (handset), is a supplement and expansion of the local telephone service. The wireless local phone terminal can be used for short message service (SMS), conference telephone, wireless getting online and super-class paging and other value- added services, and has such advantages as cheap charge, little radiation and keeping secret.
IP direct dialing telephone service: This is an IP service realized through a fixed or mobile telephone terminal, by dialing the access code 17909 or 17901 and the charge is collected from the calling party. This service is much appropriate to customers who have various long-distance call requirements. In the near future, China Telecom will realize the separation of the terminal and the card so as to facilitate customers to change their terminals according to their requirements and meet their diversified utilization requirements
Calling card service: In order to facilitate customer to make telephone calls at any time and at any place, China Telecom has developed various kinds of calling cards, some of them can be used throughout the country and some of them can only be used in the provincial regions, the cards are categorized by the IC Card, 190300 Card, Yitong (cheap call) Card, 17901 Re-chargeable Card, V-net Card, 200 Card, 201 Card, IP Card, Value-Chargeable Card and Pre-Paid Card. Moreover, to meet requirements from governmental units, institutions, business entities, enterprises, companies and individuals, some special cards for souvenirs, advertising and commemorative purposes are made by China Telecom as well.
Public pay phone service: China Telecom possesses the world's, largest public pay phone network, working with it there are almost 13 (12.88) million telephone sets. They are categorized by attended public phone set, IC Card phone set, corn payphone set, Intelligent public phone set and public phone super market, etc.
"Huiyitong" (In the Chinaese language, "Huiyi" means "conference" or "meeting" and "tong" means "communications"): This is an interactive conference telephone service. Participants at different places can, at an in-advance scheduled time, through an in-advance designated dialing method, get access to the conference telephone system, a phone conference can be held. This Huiyitong facility is featured by convenient utilization, rich functions, security and flexibility, can save much traveling time of customers so as to improve their corporate effectiveness. It is very much appropriate to a regular meeting or an emergency meeting of a corporation that has branches at different places.
Jia Jia e (SMS over PSTN): This information telephone service is a value-added data service based on the fixed-line telephone network. The service enables a fixed telephone user to enjoy such services as short message receive and transmit, on-demand information, information subscription, email, etc. By just simply operating the menu in a telephone set or handset, a corporation can use this facility as a new corporate information releasing platform or new information management tool.
Lingtong (Smart) Short Message service: This is the general term for data application services based on the PHS short message platform provided by China Telecom for customers with PHS terminals. Major services of the Lingtong Short Message include: point-to-point short message and SP(content and application service provider) short message. The former means point-to-point short messages which are transmitted and received among the PHS short message customers and the PHS customers as well as mobile phone customers, and the latter means short value-added services provided by SPs for PHS customers who are based on the Internet network via China Telecom's PHS short message platform. Telecom services provided by China Telecom mainly include: long-distance telephony and local telephony, card telephony, data communications, Internet network and its applications as well as international telecom services, China Telecom is able to meet diversified requirements from domestic and overseas customers.
